Separating by moving bodies with pitted surfaces.-For separating a mixture of seeds into its constituent parts, a continuous or discontinuous helical blade 19 with pockets 20 formed on its sides is rotated in a cylindrical casing 7 to which the mixture of seeds is fed by the tangentially disposed spout 10. The seeds carried round by the sides of the blade are deposited in the discharge hopper 13 on the opposite side of the cylinder from the spout 10. The mass of the material is fed through the cylinder by the screw action of the blade and is discharged at the tapering end 11, the blade at this part following the side of the casing and being preferably smooth.
