Abstract

199,242. Hibbert, J. I., and Callender's Cable & Construction Co., Ltd. May 30, 1922. Rollers or cylinders, hollow.-Metal rolls are formed with passages parallel to the axis and arranged near the periphery, which communicates at one end with an inlet, and at the other with a central hollow space, so that heating or cooling medium can be passed through the peripheral passages, and discharged at the inlet end. A roll 1 is formed with passages 2 which connect at one end with an inlet chamber 10, and at the other end with a central hollow 6. Central with the roll 1 is a pipe 12 comprising a tubular portion 15 communicating with the hollow 6, and surrounded by inlet channels 16 connecting through perforations 17 with the chamber 10. Heating or cooling medium is supplied by a pipe 29, and after traversing the passages 2 is discharged through the pipe 15.
