Abstract
199,009. Roofing Research & Engineering Corporation, (Assignees of Robinson, T.). June 9, 1922, [Convention date]. Roofing tiles consist of a non-metallic and mouldable base which can be sawn and nailed like wood, to which is applied a coating of metal such as copper or zinc by electrodeposition, or a metallic powder may be sifted, sprinkled, or blown on the surface, or the powd'er may be suspended in a vehicle such as nitrated cellulose solution which is sprayed or otherwise applied. The base may be a composition of granulated cork, or wood fibre, or asbestos fibre, and a binder or cement such as magnesium oxide mixed with magnesium chloride. The base may be completely enclosed by the metallic covering, or the portions only which show when the tiles are laid may be coated. The tiles may be flat or rectangular, or be formed with interlocking edges as shown in Fig. 11.
