Roofing tiles; sheet-metal tiles; compound tiles.-Tiles, strips, or shingles consist of an asphalt or non-metallic base a, a layer of granulated material b, and a thin coating of metal c, such as copper or zinc applied by electrodeposition. The base may consist of paper or fabric impregnated with asphalt, and the layer b may be petroleum coke or ground cork or slate made conducting with graphite and rolled into the base. The whole sheet and edges may be coated with the metal, or only that portion which will be exposed when laid.
