Jan. 17, 1931, No. 1617. Convention date, Jan. 18, 1930. [Class 140.] A roofing &c. shingle consists of a base 10 of porous heat-insulating material, such as that known under the registered Trade Mark " Celotex," covered on a part only of its upper surface by a sealing coating, such as asphalt, which is covered wholly or partly by a protective layer of metal, such as copper 19, while a layer of fibrous material, such as felt 15, covers the remainder of the top surface of the plate. The copper sheet 19 covers the coated portion of the upper surface of the shingle and is crimped against its lower edges at 20. The felt layer 15 may overlap the rear edge of the copper layer at 17. At least that portion of the undersurface congruent with the metal layer is covered with felt, which overlaps the folded metal edges 20. Specification 348,128 is referred to.
