Abstract

Hatchways.-Portable beams in the hatch are supported by upper and lower brackets h secured. on opposite sides of the hatch and engaging the top and bottom stiffening flanges f<1>. The securing means for the beam comprise pairs of lugs j pivoted on bolts j<1> and engaging in their operative position with pairs of intermediate brackets l secured to the hatch. Locking-bolts m pass through orifices in the upper flange of beam brackets h, l and the lug. When the beam is removed the downward movement of the lugs is limited by stops K. In another form, brackets of channel section are employed and the lugs slide in horizontal slots cut in the web of the hatch beam.
