Abstract

197,738. Michot, G., Fibre Corporation, Ltd., and Marshall, Sons, & Co., Ltd. Feb. 18, 1922. Flax-pulling machines.-The flax-pulling combs 'G are carried by members H supported on rigid arms J extending from chain-belts K; the arms J are provided at their upper ends with elements U adapted to co-operate with guide rails R and also carry rollers V that engage with pivoted hangers C supporting a preferably serrated comb-cleaning bar F which is normally pulled forward against a stop by a spring W. The chain-belts K pass over sprockets L<1>, L<2>, the forward sprocket L<2> being adjustably mounted and the rear sprocket being driven from the main wheels M through a clutch at such a rate that the linear speed of the chain-belts relative to the frame is less than the speed of the machine through the crop. The draft pole S may be adjusted to permit the combs to enter the crop at the most suitable angle. The comb-carrying frame may be adjusted on the main bearings by screws X<1> in brackets X locking pins X<3> being fitted after adjustment to relieve the screws from the weight of the frame. Specification 153,115 is referred to. In the Provisional Specification it is stated that two cleaning bars engage on opposite sides of the combs.
