Abstract

Cyanogen; cyanogen chloride are obtained by the action of chlorine, preferably moist and under pressure, on a cyanide, with which a metal may be mixed to accelerate the reaction. Arsenic, antimony, copper, tin, lead, and iron are instanced as suitable metals. The gases may be generated in apparatus of the type described in Specification 168,888. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 178,409, [Class 81 (i), Disinfecting &c.].
