Mechanical and like toys; scenic and like toys. -The vibration of a diaphragm, or wire by electromagnets is utilized for operating toys, and for other purposes. Fig. 1 shows a table 1 mounted on a rod 2 vibrated by two electromagnets 4 arranged at right-angles. The magnets may act directly on the table 1. An object 5, of appreciable weight, placed on the table 1 is given various translational and rotary movements by reason of the vibration of the table. The table 1 may be of any shape, and the rod may be in the form of a stretched string, &c. The rod 2 may be horizontal or carry at its end a loose vertical disc, or it may be shaped as shown in Fig. 12 to support a table 1 and carry on its horizontal part a tight rotatable ring 8. Fig. 15 shows a form in which a single, magnet 4 is employed, utilizing simple alternating current. Rubber-tipped stems c<1>, d<1> are arranged around the table 1, adjustment of the stems ensuring rotation of the objects in either direction as desired. Fig. 22 shows a toy in which objects 5, 5<a>, 5<b> can be placed on the vibrating table 1, which may be illuminated bv a projector 18. One of the magnets 4 is carried on a pivoted lever whereby the vibration effects can be varied. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes an apparatus in which vibration is imparted by mechanical means to a diaphragm having a rod passing through an unbalanced fly-wheel rotated by any source of power. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
