Abstract
216,946. Western Electric Co., Ltd., (Western Electric Co., Inc.). March 7, 1923. Diaphragms. - A diaphragm for an acoustic instrument consists of two conical surfaces 6, 7, united at their bases. The diaphragm is formed of fibrous material, such as paper or woven fabric, stiffened if necessary. It is freely suspended, preferably by a plurality of supporting members 11, 11 of light flexible material inside a ring 10. The receiver magnet 16 is supported on a bracket 15 on the ring 10, and a connection 18 from the magnet system is soldered to a metallic cap 17 on the conical member 6. The connection 18 may be operated by a vibrating armature operated by current-carrying coils situated between the poles of a permanent magnet. The ring 10 may be supported on a base 20.
