Laces.-For lacing a shoe an elastic lace a is provided having a fastening device b which is located between the tongue and the upper, and is composed of a thin flat frame having three transverse bars b<1>, b<2>, b<3> the bar b<3> having inwardly projecting teeth d. One end of the lace is attached to the bar b<1> by sewing and the free end is threaded between the bars, as shown in Fig. 5.
