Abstract
197,107. Ashby, F. March 2, 1922. Luggage holders.-In luggage carriers of the kind which are folded from the vertical inoperative position to the horizontal operative position, means are provided for securing such carriers in the operative and inoperative positions. The sides of the chassis or, as shown, extensions, bolted thereto, carry pins 6 on which the extension arms 4 of the carrier 3 are pivoted. Depending plates 7 have curved slots 8 with enlarged ends for receiving bolts 10 fitted with wing nuts 12 and carried by the arms 4. The positions of the bolts 10 in the inoperative and operative positions of the carrier are shown in Figs. 5 and 6, respectively. The extension members 4 have stops 14 against which the member 5 of the carrier rests when in the operative position. In a modification the bolts 10 are carried by the extensions 1 and engage in curved slots in plates carried by the arms 4.
