Abstract

247,917. Motor Soc. Anon. Feb. 20, 1925, [Convention date]. Collision-guards.-A bumper-bar for a motor vehicle comprises a spring plate 1, Fig. 3, consisting of two half plates 2, 3 partly superimposed one on the other, and resilient strengthening means 9, 10 which are curved inwardy towards one another and are secured to the looped portions of the half plates only. A clamp 11 secures the plates at the centre and lugs 4, 5 connect the ends of each pate to the chassis. More than one bumper bar may be used, in which case the ends are bent at an inclination and are secured by the same bolt to the lug or chassis. Brackets 15, Fig. 7, may be secured at 16 to the lugs 4, 5, or to the vehicle frame; the curved ends of the bumper bar being slidable in these brackets 1 so that the plate is adjustable laterally. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes a looped bumper bar 8, Fig. 8, (cancelled) adapted to protect individual wheels, the parts of the loop being slidable one over the other. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
