Abstract

274,732. Marks, E. C. R., (C. G. Spring & Bumper Co.). Jan. 24, 1927. Wheel-guards, obstruction removers, and safety appliances.-A bumper structure comprises a pair of fender guards 6 and a bumper section 12 extending across the space between the fender guards and removably connected 'thereto. A rear plate 1 is connected to supports 2 from the vehicle and has each end bent round to form a socket for a pin 8 to which one end of the upper and lower plates 6, 7 of the fender guard is attached, the other end of each plate 6, 7 being similarly supported by a pin 10 carried by a strut 9 from the plate 1. The bumper section 12 has a plate 13 hinged at each end which is secured to the bars 6, 7 by a back plate 15 and bolt 16, the back plate being of a width less than the width of the bar space between the bars 6, 7 so that it may be passed therethrough and turned when the bar 12 is to be secured to the fender guards. Spare wheels 11 may be placed between the bars 1, 12 which are accessible when the bar is swung outwardly as shown in dotted line in Fig. 2.
