Axles and axle structures.-In means of the kind for converting a live axle from a load-carrying one to a floating axle, the roller bearing which normally transmits the load from the axle casing 3 to the live axle 7 and the road wheel is replaced by a fixed sleeve 2 having a reduced end 2<a> which projects just far enough to carry a singlerow ball bearing 5 by which the load is transmitted direct from the axle casing to the road wheel. The ordinary wheel hub 6 has a flange 8 formed integral therewith to receive the race 9 of the ball-bearing.
