Abstract

176,541. Walsh, G. E. Dec. 16, 1920. Axles and axle structures.-In a rear axle construction for motor road vehicles, a sleeve e is located within the end of the axle casing d<1> but clear of the axle, and the ball bearings are arranged between the axle casing and a flange b<3> on the brake drum a<2>. The flange b<3> may be formed integral with, welded or bolted to the brake drum. A resilient washer is placed between the sleeve e and the wheel boss f, which is grooved at f<1> therefor.
