Abstract
195,899. Marchant, W. A. July 6, 1922. Car-replacers.-A ramp for re-railing railway and tramway vehicles comprises a portion for insertion between the rails, and a complementary portion for bridging, and pivoting on them, the arrangement and application being such that, as the wheel is re-railed, the portion between the rails is tilted and eventually withdrawn automatically. The. part a of the ramp is narrower than the width of the wheel and is inserted between the point and stock rail, the head of the ramp b spanning the two rails and resting on them by means of the rib e. Two guide rails f and g are provided, one of which is extended downwardly to form a rib h which bears on the outer side of the stock rail according to whether the ramp is right or left handed. When the derailed wheel has mounted the part a and reached the opposite side of the rib e, the ramp tilts and withdraws the part a from between the points.
