Connecting-rods. - In a pneumatic or other drill having pairs of connecting-rods acting on single cranks, and of the type in which the hinged big-end of one rod 1, Fig. 9, embraces the semicircular big-end of the other rod 2, Fig. 8, the hinged big-end is secured by a removable pin without screws or bolts. One part 3 of the hinged big-end is formed integral with the rod 1, and the other part 8, which is 'hinged at the point 9, is slotted for the passage of the rod 2 and is secured, as shown in Fig. 4, by a pin 16 passing through holes in the arms of the part 8 and in a boss on the rod 1. The pin 16 is secured by a spring ring 20 engaging a shoulder on the pin. Outer surfaces 5 on the parts 3, 8 engage the crank-pin, while the surfaces 6, 7 engage surfaces 14 and a central ridge 13 on the big-end of the rod 2. In a modification, the outer big-end has no bearing on the crank-pin, the big-end of the rod 2 being extended laterally and its circumference completed by a semicircular bush of similar form.
