Abstract

195,651. Correx M³vek Filmipari GÚpgyar C. Lßszl¾. Sept. 7, 1921, [Convention date]. Printing-appatatus. - Selected pictures from different sections of a film are printed by continuously feeding the negative and intermittently feeding the positive film. The apparatus may be used for copying the scenes of one actor only, or the titles only. It may also be used for determining the exposures required for the different sections, in which case the selected pictures from each section are printed with different illumination. In the form shown, as applied to the determination of the exposures for different sections, the positive film 2, Fig. 2, is passed through a pivoted gate 3 which, when released from the action of a pin 10, Figs. 2 and 3, on a disc 9, springs into contact with the negative film 1, so that the feed-pins 5 may feed both films. The disc 9 meshes with a wheel 12 on the sprocket 11 carrying the positive film, and is periodically given a momentarv axial shift by an electromagnet 14, against the action of a spring 15 so as to disengage the pin 10 from the arm 8. The electromagnet may be actuated by an arrangement of projections on the negative film co-operating with feelers as described in Specification 195,634, so that as each section of the negative film passes the gate 3, the positive film is fed with it for a period of one revolution of the disc 9. During this period a rotating disc 16, Figs. 3 and 4, on the same shaft 13 as the disc 9 cuts in successively, through contacts 20 - - 23 and 25, different resistances to vary the printing light. The pin 10 then re-engages the arm 8 and withdraws the gate 3 until the next section of the negative film arrives.
