Abstract
360,210. Weighing-apparatus ; automatic cameras. PHOTOGRAPHIC WEIGHING MACHINES, Ltd., Exhibition Grounds, Wembley, Middlesex. Nov. 20, 1930, No. 34923. Convention date, May 10. [Class 98 (i).] Permanent records, apparatus for giving.-A weighing machine is combined with a photographic apparatus of the type in which a negative is produced in one camera and reproduced as a positive in a second camera, a photographic record of the weight being produced on the same strip. Other matter such as the date, scenery, &c. may be printed on the positive in the second camera. The records may be produced by separate lenses or a single bifocal lens may be used. Weighing-apparatus.-In the form shown the apparatus comprises a platform 7, Fig. 4, with a stool 8 for the sitter, a weight 32, Fig. 5, supported by a cable 33 on a drum 34 bearing a toothed segment 44 which rotates a disc 49 bearing weight indicia, a counterweight 40, and a dashpot mechanism 39 for bringing the apparatus to rest. Coin-freed mechanism.-An arm 64, Fig. 9 is loosely mounted on a shaft 57 bearing a gear wheel 60 having a gapped portion normally in contact with a continuously driven pinion 78. The arm bears a pawl 65 engaging a shoulder on the wheel 60. The coin is inserted in a slot and falls down a shoot 51 on to a balanced lever 52 which raises the arm 64 through levers 70, 67, throwing the gear wheel 60 into engagement with the pinion 78. Rotation of the wheel 60 raises the end of a lever 71 out of a recess in the wheel, closing the coin slot. Driving means. A continuously running electric motor 17, Fig. 5, drives a shaft 21 through a reducing gear 20, the developing apparatus 25, 25a for the two cameras being driven by sprocket chains from this shaft. The camera 83 is operated through a sprocket chain 99 from a sprocket wheel 97 loosely mounted en the shaft 21, rotation of the shaft 57 releasing a lever (not shown) to cause a pawl on the wheel 97 to engage a ratchet wheel 22 on the shaft 21. Paper feed mechanism. The sensitized paper is fed from a roll through a slot 106, Fig. 14, by spaced wheels 108, 11], the wheel 111 being mutilated on part of its periphery, into position opposite the lenses 114, 115 and is held in place by a reciprocating pressure platen 124. A spring-urged knife 120 is retracted and then released to sever the paper at each rotation of the wheel 111. After exposure the paper is passed through a system of developing tanks 25 by continuous bands and fed into the copying camera closing a contact which sets in operation the feed of the positive paper. A strip feeding device bearing additional matter may be positioned in the camera with the negative. In the form shown a coin 52a, Fig. 36, falls on a pivoted lever 195 advancing a ratchet 189 one step through a system of levers 201, 202, 204. The ratchet may be periodically stepped by a clock mechanism. The finished positive or both the positive and the negative are discharged through a delivery slot 209, Fig. 5. Specifications 311,614 and 337,029, [both in Class 98 (i), Photographic cameras &c.], are referred to.
