Abstract

195,612. Lanhoffer, I. E. April 3, 1922, [Convention date]. Cooling cement.-An auxiliary rotary cooling- chamber for a cement kiln is lined with a series of overlapping plates m which support the clinker and form passages for the supply of cooling-air. The plates are carried by brackets l having openings s registering with air supply openings in the outer shell, and formed with shoulders n which prevent the clinker from choking the air passages. The supply of cooling-air is restricted to .a predetermined portion of the periphery by means of a travelling band o, which is diverted from the shell to uncover a desired number of the openings s by pulleys p<1>, p<2>. The position at which the air is delivered, and the number of the openings s uncovered, can be varied by moving the structure carrying the pulleys bodily round the furnace, and adjusting the pulleys p<1>, p<2> in a slot concentric with the cooling-chamber.
