Abstract

195,499. Taunton, E. M. Feb. 17, 1922. Belts.-An extensible link driving belt, applicable for use on motor cycles or for fan or dynamo drive on motor cars, comprises frictional engaging elements, such as leather, vulcanized fibre &c. blocks 10, alternating with and interconnected bv coiled springs 14 the hooked ends 14a of which engage transverse pins 12 carried by the frictional elements. The pair of blocks 10 comprising each friction link are secured together by a screw 11, the inner faces being slightly spaced apart with or without metal protecting plates and the outer faces inclined to engage a V-grooved pulley. The transverse pins 12 are carried in holes or recesses at each end of the friction blocks and may be formed with a neck or groove in the middle for engagement by the hooked ends 14<a> of springs 14 of square sectioned wire as shown in Fig. 2, or the centre parts of the transverse pins may be enlarged and grooved for non-detachable engagement by springs of round wire as shown in Fig. 5.
