Shoots.-Relates to portable apparatus of the kind comprising a rotatable hopper A which can be raised and lowered to project to any desired height within a ship's hold and has its lower end inclined to project the coal or other material outwards. The hopper is mounted on bars a<7> which slide vertically in a framework B depending from a platform C rotatable on a track D round the hatchway. The hopper is raised and lowered by means of eyes a<4> and is secured in any position in the frame work B by bolts a<5> passing through the holes a<6>. The outlet a<3> may be provided with a telescopic or other extension a<8> which may be removable and adjustable.
