Abstract

Cartridges, packages, and the like of materials. -Removable carbide containers for drip-feed generators and in which the container is provided with a central perforated tube to.pass over the upstanding drip-tube of the generating-chamber, are provided at the base of this perforated tube with packing means for preventing the leakage of water into the chamber surrounding the container. As shown, the container f is of cup shape and the perforated tube h is stepped into a cylindrical depression g, Fig. 1 formed on the bottom of the container or into a recess in a cardboard disc l, Fig. 2, secured thereto. The container may be of cardboard, papier marchÚ, indiarubber, lead, wood pulp, or fibre; when constructed of india-rubber the lower edge of the depression g, Fig. 1, may be moulded so as tightly to grip the drip-tube d of the generator; in other cases the packing-means comprises an india-rubber washer m, Fig. 2, secured between the disc l or its equivalent and the bottom of the container. The tube h may be of circular section and formed of zinc, wire gauge, or other perforated, slotted, or reticulated metal or of cardboard or moulded material or it may be of square section formed by folding a sheet of cardboard as shown in Fig. 4 so as to leave a slot t for the passage of the water. The container is closed by a cover which may be perforated for the passage of the tube h, or for the drip tube in cases where the tube h does not reach to the cover as shown for example in Fig. 2; the perforations in the cover and in the base of the container are sealed by labels s.
