Connexions.-A battery of the class used for portable lamps or gas - engine ignition, and particularly suitable for use in motorboats, aeroplanes, or automobiles, comprises a casing 1 containing two or more superposed dry cells 2, 3 joined in series by yielding connexions 7, the carbon of the upper cell being provided with a binding-nut 8 and post 9, while the zinc pole 10 of the bottom cell has permanently secured to it a flat rigid strip 11, which is insulated from the other cell or cells by a pad 16 and is furnished at its upper end with a post 13 and binding-nut 14. In a modified construction, the strip 11 is integral with the zinc 10.
