Abstract

12,208. Mascord, G. W. Aug. 24. Inking-apparatus. - The messenger roller which moves to and fro between the duct roller and the distributors is rotated by gear from the duct roller, and a free-wheel connexion is provided so that the messenger roller may rotate at a higher speed when in contact with the distributing-cylinder. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, the messenger roller b moves to and fro between the duct roller d and the distributing-cylinder g, and is geared by wheels c, d to the spindle of the duct roller. A usual form of free-wheel connexion f is provided between the wheel c and the shaft a of the roller b. In a modification, the roller b and wheel d are driven through a ratchet device on the shaft of the duct roller. In either arrangement, a brake may be provided to reduce the high speed of the roller b as it moves from the cylinder g to the duct roller.
