Couplings.-The adjacent ends of two or more conductors are coupled together by two externally-tapered radially-yieldable sleeves 157, Fig. 8, which, together with the ends of the conductors located within them, are drawn together by internally-tapered screw members 155, 156 so that the conductors are caused to abut directly or through the intermediary of conducting- washers. In the form shown in Fig. 8 for two wires in alinement, the screw members engage one another. In the form shown in Fig. 2 for a T-connexion, the screw members 78 engage the internally screw-threaded ends of a T-shaped casing 76, and the alined radially-yieldable sleeves 80 (the construction of which as shown in Fig. 2<a>) abut through the intermediary of the washer 84, while the lateral sleeve abuts against the washer and against the cylinder ends of the other two sleeves. Constructional forms of L- and V-connexions are described also, and in all forms the casing is surrounded by an insulating-jacket in two half-sections, as shown in Fig. 1, provided on their adjacent edges with co-operating grooves and ridges to retain a waterproof cement. The halves of the casing are temporarily held together by means of bolts 91 until permanently united by caps 92 screwing on their ends. For connecting together suspended transmission wires, two gripping- elements screwed together are employed for each wire end.
