Abstract

1356995 Electric couplings E B WIGGINS Inc 26 Aug 1971 [7 June 1971] 40072/71 Heading H2E [Also in Division F2] In a coupling for simultaneously joining two tubes and securing earthing conductors thereto, ferrules 5 having grooved inner surfaces are swaged on to the ends of the tubes 6, trapping in a groove the separated and flattened ends 17b of stranded earth leads 17, where they are fixed by conductive epoxy to prevent fraying and to provide strain relief. An annular retainer 7, in two halves secured by dovetail joints 7c, 7d, co-operates with annular elements 10, 11 when the latter are screwed together to compress the sealing rings 8. The arrangement allows some angular displacement of the tubes without loss of the seal.
