Abstract

11,689. Clarke, J. L. Aug. 12. Reservoir pens; reservoir nibs.-A reservoir pen, of the kind in which the main inkreservoir is structurally separate from the writing-part of the pen and is connected thereto by a flexible tube, is so constructed that, by continuous control of the reservoir during writing, ink is forced to the nib by pressure and sucked back from the nib on the release of such pressure. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, the main inkreservoir g is connected by the tube f to the pen proper, and the ink is forced into an auxiliary reservoir formed by attaching a metal plate i to the nib c. The ink in this auxiliary reservoir has a surface freely exposed to the air, and is sucked back by releasing the pressure on the bulb g. A sliding sleeve l is provided to close the tube f when the pen is not in use.
