E m b o s s i n g .- Dies C, for embossing particulars on the base of a shell B or other article, are slidingly mounted in a holder A recessed to receive the article, and are held in position by a collar D to which force is applied to produce the impression. The dies C have heads c<2> to limit their movement, and the collar D slides on the stem a engaged by a lathe centre, and is pressed forward by a spring E adjusted by a nut a<4>. The back of the collar D may be recessed in line with the dies C to give a hold for the pneumatic hammer or other source of power employed.
