Junction boxes.-Electric junction-boxes are provided with a non-conducting diaphragm or floor c having an upstanding web d which divides the box into two compartments, and grooves e on the underside and recesses e<2> in the periphery, whereby the positive and negative conductors need not enter the same compartment but can be led under the diaphragm and up through the apertures e' to their respective compartment. Preferably, glands such as are described in Specification 9964/15 are used for obtaining a water-tight junction between the box and the lead sheathing of the cable. The lid is secured in a water-tight manner by means of a V-shaped projection thereon engaging a groove formed in the flange of the box and containing a packing of bitumen &c.
