6983. Barnes, P. J. March 20. Connexions; gas exits.-An accumulator lug 3 passes through a loosely-fitting sleeve 1 of porcelain or the like, attached to the cover and extending some distance below it, but not touching the lug. This sleeve prevents short circuiting across the cover, corrosion of the lug, and splashing of electrolyte, but allows gas to escape, to facilitate which it may be provided with holes 11. The sleeve may be secured directly to the cover, but preferably is held flexibly by one or more rubber rings 8 fitting in corresponding grooves.
