Abstract

8270. Norsk Hydro-Elektrisk Kvaelstofaktieselskab. June 23,1914, [Convention date]. Ammonium nitrate; sodium bicarbonate.- Ammonium nitrate is obtained by reacting ammonium chloride with sodium nitrate obtained by absorbing nitrous gases in sodium carbonate or bicarbonate. The sodium chloride is separated by boiling and reacted with ammonium bicarbonate to produce sodium bicarbonate again; and the ammonium nitrate is obtained by cooling. The sodium bicarbonate may be first converted into carbonate or may be used directly to absorb nitrous gases. The Specification as open to inspection under Section 91 (3) (a) states also that further quantities of sodium nitrate and ammonium chloride may be added to the solution to obtain a desired concentration, water being added before the cooling so as to maintain all salts, except ammonium nitrate, in solution; this subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
