6029. Aitken, H. W. April 22. Roller mills.-The feed-roller of a sugarcane mill is formed with a surface pattern consisting of grooves a with their sides at an angle of about 30 degrees, and preferably rounded at the bottom, the intervening parts b forming crushing-surfaces of relatively large extent. The parts b may be flat, curved, ridged, or combed, the adjacent roller being plain. The grooves may be in the form of continuous helices.
