Roller mills.-Chilled rolls having from 80 to 100, or more, grooves per circumferential inch are used instead of smooth rolls for grinding or reducing semolina, middlings, dunst, or like granular substances. The grooves or corrugations are saw-toothed in section, and run parallel to the axis of the roll, or helically; or they may be of wave formation, and either axial or oblique.
