March 10. spray carburettors. - In carburettors for use with alcohol, kerosine, and like fuels requiring to be heated, the float chamber, fuel conduits, and mixing-chamber are surrounded by a common exhaust-gas or hot-water jacket. The float chamber 6, Venturi mixing-chamber 18, and fuel conduit 11 are surrounded, in the same horizontal zone, by the common jacket 3, 12 having its inlet at 7 and outlet at 8. The conduit 11 communicates with the float chamber at a point 13 near the normal fuel level and supplies the nozzle 17 through passages 14, 15. The float 19 causes the fuel to rise in a thin annular layer, which, in contact with the hot wall 5, quickly becomes heated, and for this purpose, the float 19 may be fixed, as by a set-screw 19", and serve merely as a fuel displacer. The float-valve actuating arms 27 are carried by a plate 31 secured by the cover 28.
