Abstract

21,825. British Thomson-Houston Co., [General Electric Co.]. Oct. 31. Armatures and field magnets, cooling ;- commutators. - A fan member 10 extending beyond the periphery of the armature 15 is provided with two sets of blades, one set 11 drawing air through inlet openings 2 in the casing 1 and forcing it over the field - magnet windings 5 and the outer surfaces of the commutator 13 and the armature and out through the outlets 3 in the casing, and the other set 12 drawing air through the inlets 2 and forcing it through passages 14, 17 in the commutator and the armature and out through the outlets 3. The positions of the openings 2, 3 may vary. The outer portion of the armature end-head 16 may overlap the commutator support for the purpose of making an air-tight joint and of centring the commutator.
