Abstract
21,822. Siemens Bros. Dynamo Works, and Kieffer, E. O. Sept. 25. Armatures and field - magnets, cooling; coils and conductors.-In a machine for supplying current to or receiving it from an external circuit, in order to cool the stator or rotor conductors, an air-tube is enclosed in the insulation of the conductor and mav also be used for current-carrying purposes. In one form, the conductor itself is tubular, the slot having an air-channel underneath it. In the example shown in Fig. 2, the tube a is formed as part of a metal covering a<1> for the conductor a<Î>, insulation being placed over the whole. In other constructions the air-tube is placed below the conductor or between two conductors. Fig. 8 shows an outlet i whereby tubes a, in two adjacent packets of stampings g, discharge into an intermediate air duct h, the air current being created by one or more fans on the rotor.
