Abstract

21,148. Gray, G. Oct. 19. Track apparatus for stopping trains. - The train-pipe is opened to atmosphere by the raising of a valve stem c when a roller at the bottom thereof runs up an inclined ramp. The valve is kept closed by a spring b and has a rubber, leather, or similar jointing - valve e. The valve is prevented from rotating by wing- guides PT working in guide-slots in the valve casing. When raised, it is held open by a flatended spring-pressed bolt, which enters a slot TS in the spindle. A plug N with an opening SO may be provided in the train-pipe nozzle. The ramp RP is hinged on a sleeper and extends beyond the hinge in order that it may be impossible to turn it right over. It is raised and lowered by eccentric disks P, P<1> operated by connexions to the signal post or signal cabin.
