Abstract

Carburetting.-In a carburettor for internalcombustion engines and for other purposes, and of the kind in which air is bubbled through liquid, the primary air supply enters through a pipe 13 having a submerged foot 14 with a perforated conical upper surface, and a secondary air supply is admitted through a pipe 16. which may surround the pipe 13 and terminates in a perforated enlargement 18 above the level of the liquid. A further supply of air may be admitted beyond the mixture outlet 12, and a baffle 22 may be provided to prevent liquid from passing out with the mixture. The pipes 13, 16 may be replaced by a single pipe having a perforated foot and a perforated enlargement. Gauze screens 24, 25, 26 may be provided on the outlet and inlets.
