Abstract
18,429. Lowden, J. E. Aug. 6, 1913, [Convention date]. Metal-pots.-In means for maintaining a constant level, metal is supplied to the main metalpot 6 from an auxiliary pot 8 containing an ingot of metal 9 and heated by a burner 12, the gas supply to which is controlled by the level of the metal in the main pot. The molten metal drops through an opening 10 into the main pot 6. The gas-supply pipe 15 of the burner 12 leads to a pipe 16, which descends into the pot 6 and is surrounded by a tube 17, from the head of which a pipe 19 leads to the burner. A pipe 20 having a small passage communicating with the pipe 15 leads to a pilot light at the burner. The lower end of the tube 17 is always sealed by the metal, and the pipe 16 is opened or closed according to the level of the metal, so that the burner is lighted or extinguished as required.
