Abstract

18,339. Barlow, N. S., [Elsas, H.]. Aug. 7. Centrifugal machines; moulding pulp.-In machines for moulding pulp bottles &c., the pulp is distributed evenly within the mould by a tube 21 provided with slits 24 or holes 25, Fig. 9, graduated in accordance with the contour of the articles ; a stem 31, Fig. 8, furnished with channels 32 corresponding to the openings 24, 25, may also be provided within the tube. As shown in Fig. 1, the tube 21 is secured to a measuring- chamber 2 sliding within a fixed casing 3 and provided with an aperture 5 adapted to register with a pulp inlet 4 ; a piston 6 governs the capacity of the chamber 2 and also effects the discharge through the tube 21. The moulds 10 are made of woven wire net 11 in sections clamped together by flanges 12, and are arranged within tables 15 rotatably mounted within a rotary table 17. The tables 15 are furnished with gears 19 engaging a central gear 20 whereby the moulds are rotated to pack the pulp centrifugally.
