Moulding pulp.-Hollow bodies are manufactured from fibre pulp in apparatus comprising a compound mould involving a number of individual moulds, mounted upon a common outer wall, combined with a common distribution chamber and with means for simultaneously opening the individual moulds. Fig. 1 shows a centrally divided mould each half of which is carried by a hinged jaw m. The mould units g, h, i, k are connected by fibres c - - f to a distribution chamber b, the pipes being of such section, length and curvature as to ensure that the correct quantity of pulp passes to each mould. Mould bottoms p, q, r, s are carried by a bottom jaw t. The moulds may be of the same or of different kinds; as shown, similar moulds g, k for receptacles are associated with a pair of lid moulds h, i. Fig. 4 shows a modification in which the moulds ware adjacent the distribution chamber v which has partly pervious walls so as to produce an aggregate body from which the individual bodies are separated. The mould is divided on the plane E-F, the bottom section x being movable vertically.
