Abstract

Lateral-splash guards for motor and other road vehicles, of the kind carried by the wheel hub or axle and connected with non-rigid control devices extending into the proximity of the usual mudguard or the vehicle body, are provided with a control device adapted to move about pivotal connexions the axes of which are disposed in one or more planes parallel to the plane of the wheel. The control device embodies a sliding connexion between a rod h pivoted to the mud-guard or vehicle and a yoke-piece i pivoted at b<2> to the splash-guard supporting-means b, the yoke i for a front wheel being controlled by a spring upon the rod h, which is pivoted to an adjustable arm e mounted on a vertical pin f. For a rear wheel, the spring may be omittel, and the rod h directly pivoted to the mud-guard or vehicle body. The support b preferably comprises a divided bearing provided with or mounted on a channel-shaped antifriction ring adapted to fit a corresponding recess or channel in or on the wheel hub, the support having arms b<1> with pivoted sockets to carry adjustably the upper ends of links d supporting a two-part splash guard.
