Abstract

267,693. Hayward, C. W., and Stevens & Co. (1914), Ltd., A. J. Feb. 24, 1926. Springs, arrangement of.-The road-wheel axle or spindle of a motor-cycle side-car is carried by an arm 11 on a bracket 9 rotatably mounted on the side-car frame and arranged so that the arm projects upwardly and forwardly from the pivot axis of the bracket, a leaf spring 13 being fixed to the underside of the bracket to project forwardly with its free end sliding between rollers 14 on the frame. The wheel spindle is mounted in the aperture 11a, and the bracket is mounted on ball bearings on a spindle secured in the rear transverse tube of the chassis frame. The body is suspended on the frame by springs 4, 5 connected together at one end, the other ends of the springs being connected to the frame and body respectively. As shown, the spring 5 is connected to a transverse U-shaped member 6 bolted to the body.
