Abstract

15,439. Howorth, F. W., [Brown, E. B.]. June 27. Metallic-spring bodies and cores. - Radial helical springs are seated in open - sided pockets 14 fixed to a detachable retainer-band 11 sprung on the rim. The sides of the pockets are closed by ring-plates 17 against which the beaded edges of the cover are clamped by the rings 10. The outer ends of the springs are covered, without positive attachment, by caps 19, each of which has a stud 21 seated in a metal socket built in the tread of the cover. All, the caps are connected at the sides by pivoted links 26. A spring plate 22 supporting the tread is secured to each. cap by the stud and maintains the sides of the cover spaced from the caps.
