Abstract

Composite and elliptic springs.-Relates to laminar springs for vehicles, of the kind composed of end limbs integral with, or rigidly attached to, a central main limb, and consists in connecting the end limbs to the main limb either (1) as shown in Fig. 2, in which each end of the main limb a is bent over itself as at d and then spirally upwards as at e so that it may be bolted under stress to the chassis at f, or (2) as shown in Fig. 3, in which the terminals of the main limb are thickened as at l or hook-shaped, the end limbs being correspondingly shaped as at k, so that the parts may be united by a divided cap m. The endsf, Fig. 2, are reinforced by auxiliary leaves g and strengthened by straps i, and the loops d are strengthened by straps h.
