Bits.-In bits of the double-mouthbar type, the bridoon or switch-bar is hooked to checkpieces fixed to a tubular mouthbar, the core of which carries the usual branches for the curb and reins. Both mouthbars may have ports. The check-rings b are riveted or brazed to the tube a, and through the eyes of the rings b the bridle straps i are passed. The bridoon m, which is connected by an india -rubber band n in the known manner with the bar a, has adjustable hooked ends l which take into recesses in the eyes j, so that a limited pendulating movement of the bar m is permitted. The core c of the bar a has the branches d fixed to it. The reins and curb chain are secured as usual to the branches.
