Abstract

9943. Mitchell, F. April 22. Strainers. -A lever-lid can for paint &c. is provided with a removable strainer, for use when the liquid is poured out, comprising a metal or other ring with a double flange e, Fig. 2, adapted to grip a sheet f of gauze &c., and a flange g fitting tightly in the mouth of the can formed by the usual rim c and flange d. The gauze may cover only one or more portions of the internal area of the ring, the remainder being filled in with plain tin or other imperforate material. In cans for petrol &c., the usual screwed nozzle i, Fig. 5, is fitted with a metal or other cap j with gauze f and a screwed portion k; or two portions k may be provided to enable the cap to be fitted to cans having nozzles of different diameters.
