Ordnance breech mechanism. - Consists in waterproofing the gun breech by enclosing it in a cylindrical cover B, shown in side elevation in Fig. 2, which is secured to a collar A<2> on the gun by a flanged ring C formed with internal studs C<2> which engage with inclined slots a<2> in the collar A<2>. The locking rotation of the ring C, which is effected by a hand-lever C<1>. presses a packing-ring c, carried by the cover, against an annular rib a<3> on the collar A<2>, A set-screw D, working in a lug on the ring C, bears upon a projecting part A<x> on the gun and unseats the ring if it should stick when the cover is to be removed.
